UOA 1

Visualization and modelling techniques for soft tissue and soft tissue interactions.

Investigators: A/Prof. SagarProf. WrachtrupProf. Röhrle

This project will map neural tracts from the motor cortex to the motor units of all skeletal muscles, together with the associated sensory feedback systems. It will link models of neural pattern generation to anatomically and biophysically based models of the musculoskeletal system. The objective will be to better understand normal and pathological muscle coordination synergies in order to develop sophisticated human-machine interfaces to treat human movement disorders. Moreover, data obtained through novel sensors measuring brain activity shall be included within the modelling framework to allow a virtual environment for developing new control strategies and robotic devices assisting human motion.
